WHAT? A social group with a Financial Literacy focus, for young adults with disabilities. We’ll play some games and get to know each other, but we’ll also take a bit of time to talk about banking and other financial topics. Also room for parents to meet next door if desired. Parents do not have to stay through the group time.
WHEN? We’ll start on Friday, February 28 and go through April 3.(Fridays 2/28, 3/6, 3/13, 3/20, 3/27, and 4/3). Arrive between 6 and 6:30, browse the books, get a cup of hot cocoa, then we start at 6:30 and run through almost 8 PM when the store closes.
WHERE? Bestsellers Books across from the Courthouse in Mason, Michigan, 15 minutes south of Lansing. Bestsellers has a cafe for drinks and a few snacks.
WHO? This group is for young men and women, ages 16 to 30 or so. We are kind of flexible on ages…young people must be able to communicate verbally and take care of basic needs. Every participant should plan to attend at least 4 of the 6 sessions, making the group more stable for everyone’s participation. The group runs FREE of charge.
WHY? Everybody wants to spend time with friends. If your young adult child wants to make some friends, laugh a lot, and talk a little about taking on life as a young adult with disabilities, come on out.
